In order to provide references for the selection of terminal sire to produce commercial pigs, performance of different kinds of terminal sires were compared. The traits of Duroc boar and hybrid-boar bred by Wens were determined, including average daily gain, feed/gain ratio, back fat thickness, body length and body height. The performances of different types of terminal sires were compared. The results showed that the hybrid terminal sire was superior to purebred boars in terms of growth performance, body size and semen quality. S122, crossed by S22 Duroc and Pietrain, is an excellent terminal sire for commercial pig production.
