The Pathologic Studies of Geese Paramyxovirus

    • The Geese were infected artificially with Geese Paramyxovirus(GPMV) isolated from diseased geese in the field, and which was confirmed to be of high virulence to 1,14,28 and 48 day old geese in this study. Mortality declined with the increase of age. Experimental infection also was done in 28 day old geese by different inoculation rootes(ocular instilation,Nasal instilation, oral administration, subcutaneous and intramuscular injection), all above rootes can result in infection and death. But the Oral administration showed the highest mortality, and the nasal instilation the lowest. This virus mainly caused septicaemic and nervous tissue abnormalities. Under the electron microscope, the ultrastructural abnormalities of the brain tissue were also observed.
